
Thursday, November 16, 2017 -- More than half of the Arizona players who entered the first round of the DI NCAA Women's Tournament last week have advanced to the second round which will be played on Friday night.
24 players on 14 teams entered the tournament last week and now 13 players on five players are still in the hunt for the national title, including the University of Arizona, the lone school from Arizona to make the tournament.
Here is a look at how the Arizona players performed in the first round last week.
Arizona defeated TCU 2-1
Gabi Stoian (Scottsdale) played 75 minutes and Brandi Park (Tucson) played 90 minutes
#4 Florida State defeated Mississippi 5-0
Goalkeeper Cassie Miller (Cave Creek) played 90 minutes and made two saves
Santa Clara defeated California 2-1
Kellie Peay (Phoenix) played 90 minutes and
Kelsey Turnbow (Scottsdale) played 77 minutes and
SCORED A GOAL (watch)
Colorado defeated Denver 2-1
Goalkeeper Jalen Tompkins (Phoenix) played 90 minutes and made 4 saves and Nancy Best (Cave Creek) played 21 minutes
Northwestern defeated Butler 3-2 on penalties
Kylie Fisher (Scottsdale) played 49 minutes and converted her penalty
