13 Arizona Players Set For DII & DIII NCAA Men's Tournament

Thursday, November 9, 2017 -- The 2017 DI, DII, DIII men's and women's college seasons have entered postseason play and as always a handful of Arizona players are just a few wins away from bringing home a national championship.
This preview is just for the DII and DIII men's teams as action for the DII kicks off tonight. On Thursday, we'll drop a preview for the DI, DII, and DIII women's teams as they all start play on Friday. The DI men's teams are still in regular season play and as soon as the bracket is announced we'll drop a preview next week.
On the DII front, the last Arizona player(s) to bring home a national championship was in 2011 when Fort Lewis and Berekk Blackwell, Daniel Wilson, Andy Hoffman, and Derek Freeman defeated Lynn 3-2 in overtime. In DIII, the last Arizona player(s) to win a national championship will be looking to do it again this year as Conor Coleman helped Tufts defeat Calvin 1-0 in double overtime last year.
This year, nine players will be competing in DII and four players will be in DIII. They are:
DII - CSU Dominguez Hills - Juan Hernandez (Tuzos)
DII - Colorado Mesa - Briley Guarneri (Arizona Arsenal), James McGhee (Arizona Arsenal), Chris Boyd (Scottsdale Blackhawks), Sam Cioara (Arizona Arsenal), Benji Delgadillo (Arizona Arsenal / Tuzos), Nick Rizzo (Arizona Arsenal / Scottsdale Blackhawks)
DII - Maryville - Gavino Carranza (Tucson Soccer Academy / Real Salt Lake - AZ) and Ben Brodie (Sereno)
DIII - Cal Lutheran - Joshua Drapkin (Arizona Arsenal), Ulises Castro
