2018/19 ODP Coaching Staff Announced



Thursday, July 19th, 2018 -- The Arizona Soccer Association (ASA) Olympic Development Program (ODP) is pleased to announce the 2018/19 Coaching Staff.

The ODP is under the director of Arizona Soccer Association Technical Director, Carlos Juarez, who will be the head coach of the 06 Boys.

Juarez holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) "A" License. Additionally, Juarez has spent more than 30 years working as a U.S. Soccer National Staff Instructor and was the Chief Scout for the U.S. Men's National Team from 2011-16. He scouted opponents during the 2013 and 2016 CONCACAF Hexagonals, 2013 and 2015 Gold Cup, 2016 Copa America, and 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The 2018/19 ODP Coaching Staff is 34 coaches strong. 8 have USSF National A Licenses, 8 have USSF National B Licenses, and 11 have USSF C Licenses. 24 coaches competed at the college level and 7 coaches currently coach college including 06 Girls ODP Head Coach, Kate Norton, who is currently an assistant coach with the University of Arizona. 

YOP Girls Head Coach, Chelsea Buckland, appeared in 11 international matches and scored one goal for the Canada women's national soccer team. Goalkeeper coach, Cory Robertson, has been Phoenix Rising FC's goalkeeper coach since 2014.

Additional highlights include Chris Behler (06 Girls Assistant Coach) and Paul Lester (04 Girls Head Coach), who were both members of the 1992 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup champions, San Jose Oaks. Derick Brownell (02 Boys Assistant Coach), Eddie Hertsenberg (Staff Coach), Lindsey Johnson (Staff Coach), Tony Colavecchia (02 Boys Assistant Coach), Raiff Gwinnett (Staff Coach), and Mike Hewitt (Goalkeeper Coach) all played professionally.
