Arizona High School Champions Crowned

Sunday, February 11th, 2018 - The 2017-18 Arizona High School Soccer season came to an end throughout the day on Saturday as champions were crowned for both the boys and girls 6A, 5A, 4A, and 3A Divisions. 

The Arizona Soccer Association would like to congratulate the champions and all Arizona high school players who competed in this past season. 
 
Below is a quick recap of each championship match 
 
6A Boys
After a scoreless first half, Desert Vista's Parker Lischew, Jayden Bourg, and Max Wennes scored in the second half to give Desert Vista its first title since 2006.
 
5A Boys
Campo Verde's Blase Hail scored the match-winning goal in the 65th minute off a corner kick. This is the first title for Campo Verde.
 
4A Boys
Gila Ridge's Elix Fierro scored ten minutes into the match, Arturo Ledezma added a second just before the half and Ian Meza put the match on ice in the 74th minute with Gila Ridge's final goal to give them their first ever state title. 
 
3A Boys
A dominant first half performance propelled Yuma Catholic to a 5-1 victory giving them their fourth state title in a row. Yuma Catholic goals were scored by Eleuterio Gutierrez (3), Ramon Urbano, and Ed Morales .
 
6A Girls
Xavier has repeated at state champions thanks to Nicole Hook's goal in the 58th minute. This is the 10th state title in the program's history. 
 
5A Girls
In the only match to go into overtime, Chaparral defeated Notre Dame Prep 3-2 off of McKenzie Davis' free kick in the 118th minute. Also scoring for Chaparral was Paige Farquhar and Hanna Koopal. This is the second title in a row for Chaparral. 
 
4A Girls
Salpointe Catholic is back-to-back champions following their 3-0 victory over Flagstaff. Scoring for Salpointe Catholic was Kalista Kakou (2) and Isabella Almazan.
 
3A Girls
A lone own goal was the difference maker as Casteel defeated Yuma Catholic 2-1. Freshman Scarlett Frohardt scored the equalizer for Casteel just before the first half and the own goal occurred in the 72nd minute.
