Arizona Soccer Association, Cal South Soccer Association, and Coast Soccer League Announce Partnership To Offer Two New Player Showcases

PHOENIX (March 26th, 2021) -- The Arizona Soccer Association (ASA), Cal South Soccer Association (Cal South), and Coast Soccer League (CSL), are announcing two exciting events that will bring the top teams from California, Arizona, and surrounding states together to compete in two new player showcases.

Top teams will travel to California to participate in the Coast Champions Invitational this October. In the spring of 2021, teams will be invited to travel to Arizona to participate in the Leagues Championship that will highlight the best of the best from states throughout the west.

"These events focus on bringing the best individual teams together, regardless of their club affiliation. Teams will have the chance to qualify for the events based on their team's performance on the field," said Arizona Soccer Association CEO, Rick Kelsey. "Our efforts are focused on rewarding teams who perform well by providing opportunities to play against the top teams in Arizona, California, and surrounding states.”

"It is important that we provide platforms for top teams to showcase their talents," said Bernie Towers, Coast Soccer League President. “Throughout CSL’s history, it has been our focus that teams earn their opportunities on the field and in competition.  This collaboration continues that core principle of CSL league play.”

Directors of Coaching from clubs that participate in the APL and CSL will have a hand in the development of the October College Showcase and there will be significant involvement with the State Referee Administrators for both Arizona and Cal South to ensure there is an accompanying referee development pathway.

“Cal South is excited to join the partnership between CSL and ASA in bringing the top teams from each of their leagues together based on earned results,” said Steve Hoffman, Technical Director, Cal South. “Our commitments need to remain on the development of the player and the game and providing pathways for teams, who have earned their spot on the field, to compete regionally is something that we believe vital in keeping our focus on growing the game and supporting communities.”
