Arizona Teams Off To Hot Start At Desert Conference

Wednesday, September 18th, 2019 -- Arizona teams vying for a chance to qualify for the 2020 Far West Regional Championships in Boise are off to a hot start at the 2019-20 US Youth Soccer National League Desert Conference. 

This past weekend was the first conference event for the league and three Arizona teams are either the group leaders or are tied with the group leader. Additionally, there are a handful of Arizona teams within striking distance of first place.

The only age groups that competed this past weekend in Salt Lake City were the 12U-14U Boys & Girls. The older age groups will join the younger age groups in Phoenix at Reach 11 from November 22-24. 

Below are highlights from each group

12U Girls
PRFC Scottsdale 08G sit third and are just one point behind the group leaders after going 2-1-0. PRFC Scottsdale 08G suffered an opening loss on Friday but bounced back with two shutout victories on Saturday and Sunday. The other Arizona team in the group, RSL-AZ North 08 Girls are in fifth place after going 1-1-1. 

13U Girls
RSL-AZ North 07 Girls are tied for first with five other teams who all went 2-0-1 this weekend. RSL-AZ North 07 Girls earned a draw in their first match and then picked up two victories. RSL-AZ South 07 Girls sit in sixth after winning one match and dropping two. 

14U Girls
Tough weekend for the Arizona AZSC Thunder 06G who dropped all three matches. 

12U Boys
SC del Sol 08 Boys lead the 12U Boys thanks to an impressive weekend where they won all three matches while scoring 12 goals. RSL-AZ South 08 Boys and RSL-AZ North 08 Boys are both off the pace by three points after winning two matches and dropping one apiece. 

13U Boys
Last year's defending champions, FBSL Tuzos Academy 07 Boys, are tied for first after winning all three matches this weekend. They also scored 12 goals. RSl-AZ Sout 07 Boys are in eighth and SC del Sol 07 Boys are in 10th place. 

14U Boys
SC del Sol 06 Boys are in second place and two points off the mark after earning two victories and playing to a draw on Saturday. PRFC 06B and RSL-AZ South 06 Boys each had tough weekend's dropping all three matches.
