
Tuesday, March 13th, 2018 -- Two Arizona players have been named to the U.S. Under-16 Boys' National Team for the age group's second camp of the year.
Already training at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, California are defenders Edwin Arias and Abedi Godefroid. The camp kicked off on March 10 and will conclude on March 17. The U.S. will played matches against mixed birth year players from the LA Galaxy and Liga MX side Club Tijuana.
Arias is currently competes for the U-15 Barcelona Academy in Casa Grande and has scored one goal in 15 matches. Abedi competes for Sereno Soccer Club and was a member of the 03 Arizona Boys team that were
champions at the ODP West Championships in January of this year.
This group of players moved up from the U-14 level this year and will spend two years as the U-16 BNT before moving on to become the U-18s. The players are all age-eligible for the 2019 U-17 World Cup, which has an age cut-off of players born on or after Jan. 1, 2002 but will eventually be the core age group for the team that will attempt to qualify for the U-20 World Cup in 2021.
