Arizona's Justen Glad & Brooks Lennon Named To U-23 MNT Training Camp

PHOENIX (Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021) -- Arizona natives Brooks Lennon (Paradise Valley) and Justen Glad (Tucson) were both named to the U-23 Men's National Team training camp ahead of this month's CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship.

The two-week tournament is set to kickoff in Guadalajara, Mexico on March 18th for the U-23 MNT who have been drawn into Group A with Mexico, Costa Rica, and the Domician Republic. Group B features Honduras, Canada, El Salvador, and Haiti. The top two teams from Group A and Group B will advance to the semifinals and winners will advance to the finals with both teams qualifying for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

While it may look daunting that the U-23 MNT will face Mexico in Group A, the good news is that the U-23 MNT will not face Mexico in the pivotal semifinal match. During qualifying for the 2016 London Summer Olympics the U-23 MNT was eliminated in the semifinals. The 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics was the last time the U-23 MNT qualified.

Unfortunately, Lennon will not participate in the training camp as he was one of three Atlanta united players who were not made available due to their upcoming 2021 CONCACAF Champions League match against Costa Rican side Alajuelense in the Round of 16 this April. Three three absences drops the roster down to 27 players and U-23 MNT head coach Jason Kries will select the final 20-player tournament roster last this month.
