Friday, May 31st, 2019 -- Arizona's Richard Ledezma and the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team have advanced to the knockout rounds of the U-20 World Cup.
The U.S. finished second in Group D, behind group winners Ukraine, and will face either France or Mali in the Round of 16.
Ledezma, a former Arizona ODP player, saw his first action at the U-20 World Cup when he was brought on in the 84th minute with the U.S. up 1-0 over Qatar. Ledezma provided a late spark to the U.S. attack and narrowly missed out on a goal when his shot in the fifth minute of stoppage time hit the crossbar. Highlights of this below.
The U.S. will face either France or Mali, who has to defeat France to win the group, on June 4. The U.S. is also the only CONCACAF team to advance out of the group stage.
