Blackhawks Are National League Champions

Monday, March 19th, 2018 -- Scottsdale Blackhawks Taylor 00 Girls captured its second straight National League division title on Sunday afternoon. Blackhawks have now qualified for the US Youth Soccer National Championships and they are guaranteed a spot in the National League next year. 

Needing a win in the final match of group play to win the group, Hannah Hale scored the opening goal in the 16th minute and Hannah Osland added Blackhawks' second goal just before the half. Caitlin Johnston added a third goal in the 60th minute and Sara Wintergalen scored the fourth and final goal. 
 
Blackhawks went 4-1-2 in group play scoring 16 goals and conceding just seven. Emily Chiao was the leading goal scorer with three and Hannah Hale, Hannah Osland, and Sara Wheaton all added two goals each. 
 
The US Youth Soccer National Championships will be held in Dallas from July 24-29. In last year's National League, Blackhawks went 7-0-0 and at the US Youth Soccer National Championships they went 1-1-1 in group play. 
 
Also in National League play, Arizona Arsenal 01 Girls finished second in their group with a 5-1-1 record. They scored a group high 26 goals led by Mollie Griswold's 12 goals. Alia Shatswell was second in the team in goals with six.
