The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. COVID Protocols - August 24, 2021

COVID-PROTOCOLS

As we kick-off the 2021-2022, ASA remains committed to provide safety guidance and support to our clubs, coaches, player, referees, and families.  Our goal is to be good stewards of the community and doing our best to reduce possible COVID spread and exposure.

ASA has developed updated Covid reporting requirements and protocols.  The following are the protocols for positive results for players or coaches:

Player(s)

  • All team activities suspended for 14 days
  • Immediately remove player from all team activities
  • Inform the other team members and families that there has been a positive test (do not disclose name) and encourage everyone to monitor of symptoms
  • Submit information of positive result to ASA
  • Players and coach go into 14-day quarantine *

* If the coach or team official is not positive and can provide documentation that they have been fully vaccinated they will not be required to quarantine and can continue duties with other team after proof of vaccination is provided to ASA.  They should get tested 3 to 5 days after exposure, per CDC guidelines and it is strongly recommended they wear a mask when engaged in close proximity (less than 6 feet) of others.

Coach(es)/Team Official(s)

  • All team activities suspended for 14 days
  • Inform the other team members and families that there has been a positive test (do not disclose name) and encourage everyone to monitor of symptoms
  • Submit information of positive result to ASA
  • Players and coach go into 14-day quarantine

The following recommendations are based on best practices and lessons learned over the past year:

  • If you are sick or feel sick, STAY HOME
  • At risk individuals, youth or adult, STAY HOME
  • There should be no sharing of water or towels.  Every player should bring their own water bottles.
  • Sharing of equipment should be avoided.  This includes, but not limited to:
    • GK Gloves; GK’s should on use water on their gloves, never saliva.
    • Shoes, Socks, or Shin Guards
    • Jersey/Uniform
    • Practice Vest/Pinnies; At minimum should be washed after each use.
  • No centralized hydration or refreshment stations
  • Spectators should maintain appropriate social distancing and it is recommended to wear masks when social distancing isn’t maintained.
  • Recommend having sanitizing options available. This may include:
    • Hand sanitizer
    • Disinfectant wipes to be used to wipe down all equipment
  • Respect for each individual’s choices must be the top priority.  If a participant wishes to wear a face mask this should be allowed, and accommodations made if needed

As with last season, ASA will do everything it can to reschedule any games that have to be postponed due to COVID, however it cannot be guaranteed.

It is always the intention of ASA to provide guidance and direction as it relates to how our events will be managed, and especially the potential impacts of COVID.  At this time ASA is not instituting or enforcing any mask, social distancing, or limitations on spectator requirements.  ASA will always follow the direction and protocols for every facility that we use.  This is important as there could be different requirements per facility.  ASA will always do what it can to provide a positive and safe experience.

Arizona set the bar for the entire country to aspire to met over the past year with how COVID was managed and overcome.  This was accomplished because the entire Arizona soccer community worked together to keep our kids on the field.  This collective effort is still needed, and we ask that players, coaches, referees, and families show the courtesy and respect that is needed to help us all continue to manage through COVID and stay on the field.  Together we will continue set the bar for the rest of the country!!
