COVID Update March 30

We are almost there!

Together the ASA soccer community has worked together over the past year and now we get ready to kick-off Presidents Cup and State Cup.

ASA is aware of the changes in restrictions announced by Governor Ducey regarding COVID-19 in Arizona. Over the past week ASA has continued to reach out to our municipal and facility partners to understand how the changes announced by the Governor will, or will not affect the rules/requirements that ASA will be required to enforce.

While the requirements at each facility are still being finalized ASA’s position will be to enforce whatever is defined at each facility. ASA will communicate what each facilities requirements are regarding masking and social distancing prior to games being played each week. Regardless of the requirements, it will be the expectation that every club, team, coach, player, parent, and referee adhere to what is expected. It is our goal that everyone has a positive experience during Presidents Cup and State Cup so let’s continue to work together and finish the season strong.

COVID reporting protocols will remain in place for any team that has a positive COVID case. The process and impacts on COVID positives has been reviewed by the Cups Committee and communicated to all teams, coaches, and team officials. We are confident in these protocols and believe that the commitment by all to these protocols have been instrumental in Arizona Soccer Association leagues to get through their season, while all other leagues have been stalled and not playing.

It is imperative that everyone work together. We encourage following the most updated CDC Guidelines and ask that everyone continue to follow the following:

  • If you are not feeling well – STAY HOME!!!
  • If you are not comfortable playing or participating – DON’T!!!
  • Players or officials are authorized to wear masks during play if the referee deems them to safe.

After losing out last year, Presidents Cup and State Cup are here so let’s finish the season strong, together, and on the field! Good luck to all the teams competing.
