Day 2 Recap: Far West Regional Championships

Tuesday, June 19th, 2018 -- The second day of action at the Far Wets Regional Championships in Hawaii proved to be beneficial to eight Arizona teams as they have already booked their tickets to the quarterfinals. 
 
In addition, a total of 19 out of 21 teams have a chance to advance to the knockout rounds. Combined, Arizona went 23W-5D-14L and scored 91 goals while conceding 55.

13U Boys
Phoenix Rising FC Youth Soccer (Blackhawks) 05 won their second match of group play on Tuesday defeating LVSA 3-1. Conor Geraghty, Anthony Rzayev, and Luke Burns all scored in the first half for Blackhawks. They are now 2-0-0 in group play and have already clinched a quarterfinals spot. They wrap up group play against Total Futbol Academy (CA-S) on Wednesday. 
 
13U Girls
Phoenix Rising FC Youth Soccer 05 is perfect through two matches with their most recent win on Tuesday against Crossfire United (OR). Morgan Fielder scored the game-winning goal in the 68th minute. Phoenix Rising FC Youth Soccer has booked its place in the quarterfinals and can win the group on Wednesday when they face Utah Celtic (UT). CCV Stars 05 suffered their second loss and have been eliminated in group play. 
 
14U Boys
Tuzos Academy 04 is another Arizona team that has already clinched a birth in the quarterfinals. They are perfect through two matches and they'll have a chance to win the group on Wednesday. SC Del Sol 04 suffered a loss today, but they did pick up three points in their opening match. They'll have a chance to advance to the quarterfinals with a win or draw on Wednesday. Phoenix Rising FC Youth Soccer 04 earned a valuable point in a 2-2 draw on Tuesday. They still have a chance to advance out of the group. 
 
14U Girls
After an opening match loss, Arizona Arsenal 04 bounced back and earned a draw on Tuesday. They still have a chance to advance out of group play with a win over group leaders Utah Celtic on Wednesday. 
 
15U Boys
Tuzos Academy 03 is perfect through two matches. Jose Martinez leads the team with three goals and Ivan Pino has scored a goal in each match. On Wednesday, they'll have a chance to win the group when they face Washington Rush (WA). Tanque Verde SC 03 bounced back from an opening loss with a point in a scoreless draw. They still have a chance to advance with a win and some help. 
 
15U Girls
In group play, all you need is one big win and you're back in the driver's seat and for Arizona Arsenal 03, that big win came today in a 7-0 victory over Santa Clara Sporting (CA-N). Courtney Fernau, Mia Zubiate, and Jessie Boult (2) all scored in the first half and Taylor Lovell and Jazmin Brown scored in the second. A win or draw on Wednesday puts Arizona Arsenal 03 Girls in the quarterfinals. 
 
16U Boys
Tuzos Academy 02 picked up a valuable point in a scoreless draw against Rush 02 (HI). Tuzos lead the group with four points, but right on their heels is Rush and Boca OC 02 (CA-S) who have three points each. Tuzos needs a win or draw against Boca on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals. The other Arizona team in this age group, Barca Academy 02 suffered their second loss. They are still alive and need to make up for their goal differential (-3) to have a chance at advancing. 
 
16U Girls
Arizona Arsenal 02 are tied for second in their group with three points through two matches. The won their opening match, but suffered a loss in their second match. On Wednesday, a win and their in the quarterfinals. 
 
17U Boys
It was a tough day for the two teams in this age group as both Valparaiso United 01 and RSL Arizona (Legacy 02/01) suffered losses. The good news for Valparaiso is that they control their destiny. RSL Arizona has unfortunately been eliminated from competition with back-to-back losses. 
 
17U Girls
Arizona Arsenal 01 are storming through group play by winning their first two matches while scoring eight goals and conceding zero goals. Arsenal's Mollie Griswold leads all scorers with five goals and Alia Shatswell, Sarah Boudreau, and Jessica Olander have all scored one goal each. Arsenal can win the group this Wednesday with a win or draw. 
 
18U Girls
Phoenix Rising FC Youth Soccer 00 have won their first two matches and have a chance to win the group on Wednesday. In their second match, Phoenix Rising FC Youth Soccer won a thriller, 5-3, over Westside Timers. Caitlin Johnston leads the team with three goals. RSL Arizona (Legacy 01/00), bounced back from an opening match loss with a 5-1 win over Surf Hawaii (HI). On Wednesday, a win or a draw will help RSL Arizona advance to the quarterfinals. 
 
19U Boys
RSL Arizona (Sereno 99), have jumped out of the gates on fire with back-to-back victories and two shutouts. A win or a draw wins the group for them on Wednesday. Tyler Combs has scored in both matches. CCV Stars 99 earned three valuable points with a 2-0 victory over Kailai Krew (HI) on Tuesday. They can win the group when they face group leaders Strikers FC North (CA-N) on Wednesday.
 
19U Girls
Classic Ahwatukee 99 is 2-0-0 thus far and have a chance to win the group on Wednesday with a win or draw. In their opening match, six different players scored in the 6-0 win. They are Kamryn Fisher, Kalia Brown, Hanna Cummings, Madelyn Medina, Isabella Glavin, Dalinda Uselton.
