Ertz & McDonald Seeking Olympics Berth Tonight

Ertz-McDonald

Friday, February 7th, 2020 -- There will be plenty of Arizona connections in tonight's 2020 Concacaf Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship semifinals match between the U.S. Women's National Team and Mexico Women's National Team.

On the U.S. side you have natives and 2019 World Cup champions Julie Ertz and Jessica McDonald. On the Mexico side you have forward Ranae Cuellar who played at the University of Arizona for three years.

In the group stage, the U.S. breezed through Costa Rica, Haiti, and Panama scoring 18 goals and conceding zero. Both Ertz and McDonald started in two of the matches and McDonald scored goals against Panama and Costa Rica.

The winner of tonight's match will qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in July.
