From ASA President Rick Kelsey

I am writing to let everyone know that after a long and distinguished career as the Executive Director of the Arizona Soccer Association, Leslie Johnson has advised of her plans to retire effective May 1, 2018.

Over a 22 year career, Leslie has been instrumental in leading Arizona soccer through some very tough times in establishing a regional and national reputation as a leader in youth soccer. She has grown Arizona soccer and made the state a destination for US Youth Regional and National Championships as well as ODP Regional and National Championship events. It is her dedication to the youth game that has created such a strong presence.

On a personal level, Leslie has been a mentor and invaluable resource to me in my years involved in soccer as a coach, referee, and administrator. Her dedication to Arizona Soccer and more importantly to the youth has been something we should all strive for.

We will be posting the Executive Director position no later than April 2, 2018, on various national sites to include United Soccer Coaches and US Youth to ensure a strong candidate pool is identified.

I can’t thank Leslie enough for all she has done for soccer in Arizona and wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors.
