Wednesday, April 3rd, 2019 -- With the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup just two months away, two former Arizona Soccer Association players will be looking to solidify their chances of making the squad over the next week when the U.S. Women's National Team (USWNT) faces Australia on Thursday and Belgium on Sunday.
No stranger to participating in a Women's World Cup is Julie Ertz (Mesa), who started in every match for the championship winning USWNT at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. The other Arizona player on the roster is Jessica McDonald (Phoenix), who made her first appearance with the USWNT in 2016.
If both players make the 2019 World Cup roster, it will be the second consecutive time that two players with Arizona ties are on the same roster. In the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, Ertz along with Sydney Leroux (Scottsdale) were on the roster.
