Open Position: District 1 North Commissioner

Dear Club President /Executive Director:

 

The District 1 North Commissioner position is vacant on the Arizona Soccer Association (ASA) Board of Directors.  District 1 North is defined in the ASA Bylaws as:

 

Bylaw 322. COMPOSITION OF DISTRICTS

Section 1. District I-North is composed of the following county: Maricopa, including leagues/clubs listed in the area north of Camelback Road.

 

The filling of a BOD vacancy is governed by:

 

ASA Bylaw 405 Section 1 states:

 

If any office, including the President, becomes vacant for any reason, the remaining members of the Board of Directors shall appoint an individual to the office to fill the balance of the term or until the next AGM, whichever comes first.

 

As such, the ASA BOD is accepting candidates for both positions to serve until the next AGM (January 2020).  Candidates should submit their letter of intent and resume to Rick Kelsey at   rickkelsey@azyouthsoccer.org   no later than June 29, 2019.

 

The responsibilities of a District Commissioner are:

 

Bylaw 403 - Responsibilities of Officers:

 

Section 11.         The responsibilities of the District Commissioners of ASA shall include but not be limited to the following:

(a) Direct the business of the district;

(b) Report in writing at each Board of Directors’ meeting on the state of the District;

(c) Designate one District Commissioner as a liaison between the District Commissioners and the ASA Board of Directors. This liaison shall have a vote as a member of the Executive Board;

(d) Be present, where possible, at Annual General Meetings of the clubs/leagues in the district;

(e) Ensure that all teams and players in the district are properly registered;

(f) Hold district wide meetings on a bi-monthly basis;

(g) Designate one assistant to aid in the performance of duties;

(h) Oversee and promote growth within the district; and,

(i) Perform other responsibilities assigned by the Board of Directors or the President.
