Phoenix To Host Gold Cup Matches In 2019

Thursday, May 17, 2018 -- The Gold Cup is coming back to Phoenix in 2019.

Phoenix is one of 13 cities that will host matches in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup. It is not known which matches Phoenix will host, but in previous years Phoenix has hosted group stage matches in the 2015 Gold Cup and quarterfinal matches in the 2017 Gold Cup.
The 2019 Gold Cup will also expand to 16 teams, up from 12, and the winner of this tournament will play against the winner of the 2017 Gold Cup in a one-match playoff to determine CONCACAF's qualifier for the 2021 FIFA Conferderations Cup. The United States won the 2017 Gold Cup and if they win the 2019 Gold Cup they will automatically qualify for the Confederations Cup.
Tickets for the Gold Cup will go on sale at a later date.
