It is with great sadness that ASA announces the passing of Mariano Albano on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

 

Mariano was a founding member of Tempe SC in the late 1970's and the Arizona Sunbirds SC in the late 1980's. The Sunbirds traveled to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Germany and England during the 1990's competing in some of the top tournaments in Europe.  

 

Mariano also worked with Santos FC and South Bank SC as a coach and administrator in addition to coaching at various High Schools throughout the valley.  Even before he "retired" from coaching and until the last month, he worked with ASA as a member of various committees and given his years with child crimes as a Phoenix police officer, his expertise in the area of Risk Management has been invaluable over the past 30 years.

 

To his beloved family, we celebrate his life with you.  As a friend, a coach, a mentor, he will be missed by all who knew him.
