
Thursday, May 10th 2018 -- The first round of the 2018 U.S. Open Cup is in the books and both FC Tucson and Sporting Arizona FC have advanced to the second round.
Sporting Arizona FC will now host Phoenix Rising FC at Campo Verde High School and FC Tucson will travel to Nevada to take on Las Vegas Lights FC. Both of those matches will be played on Wednesday, May 16.

Sporting Arizona FC defeated FC Arizona 1-0 thanks to a 73rd minute goal from captain Jon Guse. The starting XI for Sporting Arizona FC against FC Arizona featured seven players who once played in Arizona Soccer Association leagues. They are: Andrew Weber, Dom Papa, Jon Guse, Tony Cascio, Paul LaMarca, Ryan Flood, and David Alton.
FC Tucson defeated California side La Maquina FC 2-1 at Kino. Forward Jason Romero scored in the second minute and Alejandro Gonzalez scored the game-winning goal int he 55th minute. FC Tucson's starting XI featured eight players who once played in Arizona Soccer Association leagues. They are: Gavino Carranza, Kyle VanAlstine, Ryan Scarpulla, Miguel Salazar, Adrian Valenzuela, Alejandro Gonzalez, Damian German, Jason Romero.
