Sporting AZ FC Advance To Southwest Conference Final



Monday, July 9th, 2018 -- Sporting AZ FC have advanced to the United Premier Soccer League Southwest Conference Final thanks to a hat-trick from Alejandro Aguilar in the club's semifinal match this past Saturday night against Southwest FC.

Sporting AZ FC will now host FC Grande (New Mexico) this Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Highland High School. A victory in this match puts Sporting AZ FC in the UPSL National Playoff next month. In the two previous matchups between these clubs in late April, Sporting AZ FC won the first, 3-0, and the second 1-0.  
Sporting AZ FC entered the Southwest Conference Playoffs as the #1 seed thanks to a 9-0-1 record with 25 goals scored and just two goals conceded. This is the second season in a row that the team has finished as the #1 seed in their conference. 
The club features a handful of Arizona players. In the victory over Southwest FC, the following Arizona players were in the starting XI: Andrew Weber, Dom Papa, David Paul, Chris Green, Paul LaMarca, Tony Cascio, David Alton, and Danny Arrubula.
