It is with much appreciation that the Arizona Soccer Association (ASA) has accepted Todd Sergi's, State Youth Referee Administrator (SYRA), resignation. Todd has been the SYRA for the past four years and has been a leader at the state, regional, and national level. His focus on development and professionalism has been second to none and has been instrumental in pushing the ASA and referee’s in Arizona to another level.
While it’s sad to see Todd leave, the ASA is very pleased to announce that Tony Bersano has been appointed as the SYRA. The ASA is excited about Tony's enthusiasm and desire to drive improvements through all levels of the game. Tony grew up in Arizona and played locally for the Tempe Pros, Sereno, and AZFC. After his youth career, Tony went on to play collegiately at Kansas Wesleyan. Following his playing days, Tony stayed involved in the game by earning a National C coaching license along with becoming a State Referee. As a referee, Tony has attended six regional championships while also refereeing college, USL, International, and MLS preseason matches. To compliment his outstanding referee resume, Tony is also a State Referee Instructor as well as serving on the State Referee Committee as the Director of Referee Development and Assistant Director of Referee Instruction.
ASA thanks Todd for everything he has done over the past four years and asks that everyone welcome Tony into his new role as SYRA.
