Wellness Tips: Difference Between a Cold and the Flu

thumbnail_WellnessNow_PartnershipENG

Feeling under the weather? Sometimes it’s hard to tell when your runny nose is from a common cold or the flu, and knowing the difference is the first step toward getting better. While there is no cure for the common cold, many over-the-counter medications and remedies are available to help ease symptoms, which usually are present for a couple of days. The flu has more cause for concern as it could lead to severe illness and tends to feel worse than the common cold, but antivirals can help shorten the length of illness. Immunizations are also available to help prevent catching the flu, but it takes weeks to build immunity, so it is important to get the vaccination as soon as possible.
