ASA Community,
Welcome to the new Arizona Soccer Association website! We are excited to bring you this newly designed website which we have been working hard all summer to bring to life and share with you all. As you explore the new site you will still find the navigation familiar to you, but with a new modern look helping to enhance the user experience.
This new change comes with the exciting decision to join US Youth Soccer and several other state associations in partnering with NBC Sports Next’s Sports Engine technology as our website provider. ASA continuously is looking for innovative ways to bring value to our membership and this collective switch to the NBC Sports Next Sports Engine platform is only the beginning.
With the 2023-24 season in full swing, this new revamped website comes at the perfect time to anchor a great upcoming season in everything we do in the Arizona Soccer Association. Below you will find a few updates and things to look forward to for the upcoming year.
ODP- We had a great start to the ODP season with nearly 900 players attending tryouts. Of those players, 617 were selected for the ODP pools. These pools will then be whittled down and selected to teams for the Far West ODP championships in January here in Arizona. Congratulations to all players selected for the pools.
Coaching Education- 140 coaches have been busy preparing for the start of a new season by attending a US Soccer Coaching Education Course. ASA hosted US Soccer Grassroots and D courses in Phoenix, Surprise, Mesa, Yavapai, and Tucson. Starting October 1st, ASA will be hosting its second National C Course of the year! Let us know if you would like to host a course in your community.
Nova Home Loans Advanced Leagues- Our exciting first of 6 Advanced League weekends kick off this Friday. With games being played both at Legacy Park in Mesa and Kino Complex in Tucson. 229 teams will be participating in our new league structure this year. Not only did Advanced Leagues see a 50% participation increase, but we are also excited to offer an extremely diverse population of clubs and teams.
MaxInMotion Open League- Open League kicked off the second week of September with over 125 games being played the first two weekends, with 333 teams participating at all levels. We are also excited to announce the inclusion of Tucson this fall season. This opportunity has provided great diversity within all levels of play.
Whataburger Academy Events- Academy also kicks off this weekend at Legacy Park with 255 teams participating for our first of the 4-weekend series. Each team will have two games each weekend of academy play. The additional three weekends will be played December, February, and March. The 255 teams participating are a 90% increase from 2022-2023.
We look forward to a great weekend of soccer.
